Strengthening Partnerships for Retinoblastoma Care: MoU Renewal & Support from ACU
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Australian Catholic University (ACU), Australia, for their unwavering support in providing custom-fit prosthetic eyes to Retinoblastoma patients through Open Eyes Nepal since December 2022.
From January to October 2024, a total of 54 patients received treatment, and 17 custom-fit prosthetic eyes were successfully fitted, offering renewed hope and improved quality of life.
On 18th November 2024, we marked a significant milestone with the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Open Eyes Nepal (OEN) and Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology. Additionally, a cheque handover was conducted to support financial services for Retinoblastoma patients.
The event was led by Dr. Purnima Rajkarnikar Sthapait, Head of Ocular Oncology, Oculoplastic, and Prosthetic Department, and President of Open Eyes Nepal, alongside General Secretary Mr. Rabin Shrestha. We were honored to have delegates from Australian Catholic University present at the occasion, including:
Ms. Bronwyn Bartsch – Director, Global Engagement
Mr. Marcelo Credidido – Associate Director, Global Marketing & Recruitment
Mr. Peter Hawke – Senior Manager, Partnerships
Ms. Anushka Shrestha – Country Representative, ACU
This collaboration continues to make a profound impact on the lives of Retinoblastoma patients, and we look forward to further strengthening our efforts to provide accessible, high-quality eye care to those in need.
